OBGYN Physician Assistant

A health center is seeking a skilled and experienced Physician Assistant (PA) with a background in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) or women's health. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the OBGYN Physician Assistant will work under the supervision of the physicians to provide comprehensive care to women across the lifespan. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in obstetric and gynecological care, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations for obstetric and gynecological patients.

  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures, including pelvic exams, Pap smears, breast exams, ultrasounds, and STI screenings.

  • Assist in the management of prenatal care, including monitoring fetal growth and maternal health, providing patient education, and counseling on prenatal nutrition and lifestyle factors.

  • Assist in the management of labor and delivery, including assisting with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and other obstetric procedures as needed.

  • Provide postpartum care and support to new mothers, including breastfeeding assistance, family planning counseling, and monitoring for postpartum complications.

  • Evaluate and treat gynecological conditions and disorders, such as menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, urinary tract infections, and menopausal symptoms.

  • Perform minor surgical procedures and office-based gynecological procedures under physician supervision, such as colposcopies, endometrial biopsies, and IUD insertions and removals.

  • Collaborate closely with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up plans.

  • Educate patients about preventive care, reproductive health, contraception, and other women's health issues.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient encounters, assessments, treatments, and follow-up plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments and advancements in obstetrics and gynecology through continuing medical education (CME) activities, conferences, and professional literature.

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge in women's health.

  • Provide guidance and education to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

  • New Jersey state licensure as a Physician Assistant, with eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.

  • Experience working in obstetrics and gynecology or women's health.

  • Strong clinical skills, including proficiency in obstetric and gynecological assessments, procedures, and treatments.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to women of all ages.
